  • RAISING THE BAR ON EXCELLENCE (available on Facebook Live from 6:00 PM to 6:25 PM)
by Denis Panneton, INO researcher, and Simon Laurendeau, President of SciencePerfo

The union of science and sport is much less far-fetched than you might think. These two worlds have advanced in near lockstep for a very long time! Just think of the fundamental principles of science, which enable policymakers and athletes to make decisions based on quantifiable data. Notice the innovative genius behind the ideas, design, and selection of sports equipment, or marvel at how performance-enhancing technologies are hiding in plain sight all over stadiums and arenas. Let’s look at this union of science and sports together, and maybe work up a sweat along the way.

  • A SECOND CHANCE, THANKS TO SPORTS AND SCIENCE
by Cindy Ouellet, Paralympian and Ph.D. student in biomedical engineering

After Cindy was diagnosed with cancer, science and sports came to her rescue. This winning combination allowed Cindy to pursue her dream of competing at the Paralympic Games in wheelchair basketball and para-Nordic skiing. Her cancer also led her to further her studies in biomedical engineering. She now helps design and develop adaptive sports equipment.
